Maturity based on Alexandra in Central Otago
The Maturity Chart is a general guide for each variety of Cherry. The dates are based on Commercial Harvesting dates in Alexandra in Central Otago. If you are planting in a different district, please adjust these dates as below:
- Marlborough -10 days
- Havelock = -16 days
- Hastings = -18 days
- Twyford -22 days

Bing is the main cherry grown in the USA Pacific Northwest. In New Zealand the fruit size is small and it is of little significance. Susceptible to fruit splitting/brown rot due to poor rain tolerance. It has great quality fruit but the tree is very susceptible to bacterial blast.
