Plumac c.v. was discovered in New Zealand as a chance seedling.  It is a highly productive mid-season variety producing fruit of excellent consumer quality with excellent storage potential. It is a controlled variety with fruit sold under the registered trademark KORU®.
  Origin: The apple was discovered on a chance seedling by Geoff Plunkett in his garden in Upper Moutere, Nelson, New Zealand in 1998
  Parentage: Fuji seed from a discarded apple x pollinated by a Braeburn from a neighboring row

  Maturity: March 8-27 based on harvest times in Hastings, New Zealand; Three picks over a 21 day period
  Fruit Size: Large fruit; Average 80 count; 198 to 221 g
  Fruit Shape:

Apple - Globose to Conical; closed sinus

  Stem: Medium length; Firm
  Skin Colour Yellow/green background with red mottle, flush and stripes

Internal

  Flesh Colour:  Greenish white
  Flavour:

 Very sweet (Brix of avg 18); complex and aromatic with a honey-like flavour; excellent balance between sugar and acidity

Gross Qualities

  Storage: Fruit stores well in air coolstore with no hidden problems.  Responsive to both CA and Smartfresh®

Tree

  Cropping: Highly productive; not prone to biannual bearing but will do so if overcropped
  Bloom/Pollination: Mid season blo0om
  Vigour: High until cropped them calm
  Tree Habit/Form:  Weeping character and naturally feathers and spurs, with low branch angles requiring little training

Notes

 

Very productive and easy to grow.  Colours late.  Multi pick.  Packouts generally range 85-92% export with main rejections for stem punctures and wind rub followed by sunburn and, when overcropped, off coloured fruit.
